Kali
she returns
with a bang

Grabs me by
the hair

Holds me to
the mirror

Forces me
to look at all the things
I’ve been avoiding

And I stare
obediently
and I keep
staring
until I dissolve

And the dissolution
is momentary
agony

Representing
all of the screams
I’ve held
inside of me

And when it’s over
the silence
is deafening

And the calm
is eerie

And the debris
of a lifetime
of suffering
lies scattered
at my feet

But I’m still standing

And the Great Mother speaks

This is no punishment;
no day of reckoning;
no breaking you apart
for a cleansing
of your past deeds

This is a path
clearing

This is a fire
following

A trail
blazing

A phoenix
rising

A strength
forged by fire

An eternal you
enduring

And she takes
my hand
and she
spins me around

And I am
one with the fractal
that flows
for all eternity

And I spin
or rather –
allow myself
to be spun

While I trust
that all is
exactly as it’s meant to be
