I’m content
to let the world
pass me by

I’ve never
belonged to it
and it never
belonged to me

And now
I’ve aged out
of the circles
where I matter
to them
and where they
matter
to me

And all I can do
is take each step
now that
I’ve found
my footing

I know how
to ground
myself

Even when
the world
is spinning

I watch
the mysteries
unfold

With a sense
of wonder

Not urgency

I’m standing
it’s spinning

I’m standing
it’s spinning

I’m standing
it’s spinning

And that’s okay
by me

There’s a power
in stillness
that I never
used to see

I’m content
watching from
my vantage point

Until it’s time
once again
to set myself
to spinning

But for now
the world can
pass me by

While I stay here

Slowing down
and standing
